The Barbarian Group is looking for a junior front-end developer to work on a global electronics brand.

Requisite experience includes a strong understanding of browser-friendly, standards-compliant web development and a knack for debugging layout issues and Javascript across modern browsers (and some not-so-modern browsers.)   The ideal candidate will possess a highly collaborative work ethic, understands how an Operations team functions, and (with a little training) can quickly master the basics of our development environment.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Hand-coding of HTML pages and interactive design, web applications, and web-based mobile experiences;
  • Integrating your code with other technologies and existing markup (content management systems, API services, video players, etc.);
  • Working with senior developers, visual designers, and analytics and content experts;
  • Deconstructing existing front-end applications and making them better;
  • Advising the account team as well as our clients on technology decisions and developer best practices.

 

What you bring to the position:

  • You are a diligent, highly motivated self-starter and detail-oriented personality who is ready to deliver production-quality work every day. You do not shy away from a challenge, and use a variety of tools (Stack Overflow, Developer Tools) to find the right solution to a problem.
  • Exposure to content management systems. 
  • Collaborates well with other coders both online and in person.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Able to communicate solutions to senior web developers and account managers.
  • Strong standards-compliant HTML and CSS coding and debugging skills.
  • Comfortable with Javascript, particularly the jQuery library.
  • Experience preparing PSD files for the web, and knowledge of best-practices for doing so with load time and end-user experience in mind.

 

 

Account Executive

The Barbarian Group is looking for an awesome, tech savvy Account Executive to join our GE team. The Account Executive is a key contributor to all things GE. You’ll work closely with the client and internal team to coordinate and supervise the strategic development, creative development, and tactical execution for client projects and campaigns.

What You Do:

  • Act as a liaison between client and The Barbarian Group to coordinate all necessary meetings and subsequent details such as ensuring that all meeting documents are finalized, distributed, and projected for each internal and client presentation
  • Internally act to ensure that client deliverables are met and clear actions are defined
  • Manage and implement projects including website rebuilds, redesigns and video production from concept to execution with minimal oversight from Manager
  • Maintain any necessary client internal or external documentation such as weekly status reports
  • Responsible for understanding the roles of each capability and how they work collaboratively within The Barbarian Group and the account team
  • Have a strong understanding of client objectives and business strategy and how to evaluate creative work against them. Use KPIs and business updates to measure and track success
  • Responsible for alerting internal team and client of breaking competitive or industry work (digital or otherwise) via a brief report that outlines the brand activity
  • Use clear and concise oral and written communication in all correspondence
  • Develop decks for client presentations
  • Partner with project producer and finance team to track budgets and expenses for all projects, and oversee client billing
  • Provide any required administrative support for the account group to ensure projects are running as efficiently and effectively as possible

“Must” Have:

  • 1 to 2 years of agency experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A basic knowledge of website design and builds, including UX, content strategy and basic production timelines
  • A love for science, technology, and innovation
  • Be an active scholar of the internet. Read the trades, the blogs, the internet!

Interaction Designer

The Barbarian Group is looking for an amazing Interaction Designer to join our User Experience team.

Interaction Designers are responsible for defining and documenting the user experience for web sites and applications across all digital platforms. They work in a highly collaborative environment with other members of the User Experience team, as well as Strategy, Creative and Technology.  Our Interaction Designers are passionate about user-centered design and optimize UX solutions from project strategy through execution.

Requires skills and attributes:

  • Knowledge: Understanding of user motivations and behavior, interaction design, digital culture and trends. Should eat, live, and breathe digital and new technologies
  • Craft: Experience creating user experience deliverables including but not limited to wireframes, site maps, interactive prototypes, personas, competitive audits and user journeys. Have the ability to ideate through sketching. Must serve as the user’s advocate and push for a simple, innovative and usable UX. Mobile experience highly desired
  • Collaboration: Thrives working with a multi-disciplinary team from concept to fruition.  You promote an exchange of ideas and develop world-class executions
  • Communication: Ability to clearly communicate interaction design solutions to both internal teams and clients
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 to 2 years experience working as a UX professional
