So I’m working on a video player.
Big deal.
So I can change the color of the controls of the video player.

So I can change the colors with CSS.

How to be a Customer Service Ninja :p. This consumerist article just proved invaluable. I’ve spent the last few days dealing with the many annoyances of moving. Transfering utilities, canceling insurances, forwarding mail, trying to figure out where all the packaging tape went, etc. The worst part of it all, without question, was trying to cancel my Verizon
FIOS TV and internet service. Over the course of the last 2 days, I spent over 2 hours on hold and still hadn’t gotten a human being on the line! Within 20 minutes of when I read this article, I had it all taken care of.
Here’s a novel idea for you Verizon – why not just put a list of phone numbers for all your support centers and what they handle on your website? You could get rid of that customer frustration machine you’ve got answering the phone now, and you’d get much more efficient employees. They wouldn’t have to do the job the machine was supposed to do – route calls.

The Steelwood Chair – designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec for Magis
This little chair is working hard for icon status. The above image is a production still from Gary Hustwits upcoming documentary on industrial design, Objectified . It also has 3 pages of this months Dwell dedicated to it.

Food
My sandwich is shockingly good today (I look kinda shocked, right?). Grilled sirloin steak, fresh mozzarella, spiced mustard and spinach on ciabatta. , I’m calling you out.

I took a cooking class tonight focused on creating Souffles. I learned a lot, met some nice people, and had a really great time. I posted
a slew of pictures on flickr, if you’d like to see more.
This was my favorite panel at ROFLCon. Ryan North (
dinosaur comics ), Randall Munroe (
xkcd ), and moot (
4chan ). The three of them had great chemistry together and all had some really intelligent and interesting things to say about web culture.
I thought I knew a lot about the web nerd culture going into this conference, but quickly found out how little I actually know. This might be ok with me.
