Catching up with the Boston Gang and Wine Wednesday! April 20th edition

Oh hello world.
Almost didn’t see you there, all wine-less and cheese-less. Pity. Those two things look terrific on you. Would you like some tips and learned opinions? I’ve been deeply ensconced in the research of both since last we touched noses, and have much to report from the field.

Boston Wino Wednesday Episode 3

As part of our cultural, social, spiritual and epicurean development here in Boston, we have begun a little thing we call Wine Wednesdays. Every week I will report back with the kinds of wines we sampled and perhaps some cheese recommendations. And pictures if anything really juicy goes down.

Shit got majestic in Boston

On August 11, most of the Boston office captured a sea-worthy vessel and had our way, brutally yet masterfully, with the Harbor. We learned many important things on our voyage. First, that Sutterhome Cabernet + Diet Coke = Magic. Second, that Pfeffer doesn’t float when you try to set him to sail but that he is highly flammable. Fun was had and tears were shed. But mainly, we learned that holy crap Shutter Island is right there in freakin’ Boston Harbor! And that there is real stuff going on RIGHT NOW that is shrouded in mystery and lots of very stern guards.
Just. Like. The. Movie. Yikes!
Obviously, our next office adventure will be to storm the island and get to the bottom of things. What could go wrong? !

My new piercing is HOTT

Sadly, this isn’t a sassy new piercing that is all the rage amongst all the angsty teens with toe fetishes. Instead, this little pin is holding my toe super straight till it can heal up from both joints being butchered with pointy things. When it’s healed, apparently it’ll pop out like a turkey timer. Oh technology, you give me a happy toe and a new pendant? You are too much!

ohhh ohhh it's magic. you know.

I’m a casual Reiki practitioner. This means that i was ‘attuned’ in a class, where a Reiki master attunes you to the ability to focus ‘life force energy’ through us and into someone else [or on ourselves]. Reiki is japanese in origin, and it is a technique that heals and calms. There is a lot of visualization and laying on of hands that goes along with it, but it’s pretty potent stuff, and can soothe aches and pains like a charm. I know, i know, it sounds hokey. But it is actually amazing as hell, and EVERYONE has the ability in them.

I’ve always done a form of this, though i didn’t know it had a name, for years before I heard of Reiki. I had just figured out a way to take pain away from people…I didn’t know what the heck i was doing, just that it worked. Once I found that there was a legitimate technique, I tried it. While it helped me channel my energies better, and see the bigger, more universal picture, I think we all can use do a form of this, class or no.

Next time you have a headache, or pain, try this: Shut your eyes, and breathe deeply and evenly. Imagine a mass of white [or golden, is sometimes how it appears to me] ‘energy’ swirling up above you. Kind of like a brilliant, churning cloud. Picture a flow of it coming down, through the top of your head. Can you feel it tingle? You might. Then feel/picture it flowing down through you, and into your hands. This might tingle too…does for me. Then rest your hands on part of your body that needs healing, and picture the energy flowing that area…just kind of washing it in light. Do this for as long as it takes. I kind of make the light wash back and forth over the hurty part, and usually it starts working right away – but I like to continue for a bit to make sure it goes away for good.

It’s pretty rad, and not nearly as hippie-dippy as it sounds. I’ll eat bacon wrapped in baby skin to prove i’m not a hippie!
