I Hate Email
It’s time for a new email system.
I don’t know if Google Wave is it but please, someone, make something new. I like multi-tasking and instant information and interactivity and I find email too linear, uncomfortably transactional, increasingly dull and, well, old-fashioned. I want to know everything important now and I don’t want to “see below” or “scroll down for details,” particularly now that I read on my phone.
That’s it.
Send me an email (bruce@barbariangroup.com) with your thoughts.

anyways, the gist of the post was that the way to alleviate our abhorrence of email is not only/necessarily by elaborating a new email system, as you suggest, but by better articulating which media in our diversifying ecosystems to use for which purposes. the author noted switching to Twitter for a well-defined portion of his communication that used to be carried out via email. more broadly, our use of email and Facebook and Twitter and SMS and etcetera is becoming sausage: all mushy. by better identifying which media to use for which purposes, we can communicate more effectively (and notably reduce the time wading through clogged inboxes).
though none of the above necessarily addresses your qualms with the linear/transactional/dull/old-fashioned quality of email. oy ve. so how about this: 'twould be awesome to fashion an email client as a video game, with bomb-detonating SFX for every delete... http://showerinthedark.blogspot.com/2007/10/wrath-of-tartarus.html
