3 Easy Ways to Sell Stuff With Facebook
This week Mashable posted a beginner’s guide to using Facebook for eCommerce. At first glance, the story seems pretty helpful, but as you dig deeper, it’s easy to find the 1500 word post more confusing than enlightening. Striving for something a bit more concise, I thought I’d write a 300 word summary.
You’ve probably heard that Facebook can help sell more of your brand’s products and services. But how do you get started and what options are best for a rapid, low-resource implementation? Here are three quick and easy ways to dive right into Facebook eCommerce, also known as fCommerce.
Facebook Plug-ins
If you have an existing eCommerce site, the easiest thing to do is add in a Facebook plugin. Adding a Like Button is as easy as cutting and pasting a code snippet. As you can see below, friends’ recommendations make a product much more appealing.

iFrames on Facebook Pages
iFrames are a way to nest the content from another website onto a separate tab on your Facebook Page or Facebook app. Tweak the layout of your existing eCommerce site to fit within the iFrame (520px for a Page tab or 750px for an app), and you can get your content to live on Facebook in a snap.

3rd Party eCommerce Apps
Lots of eCommerce companies have already created Facebook apps with features like shopping carts and accepting payments. Rather than building your own Facebook app, it’s super easy to take advantage of an existing tool like Payvment. Again, you can have the 3rd party app live on its own tab on your Facebook Page.

With a small investment of time and resources, you can try any of theses techniques to add Facebook into your eCommerce offerings. Give it a try and see if it boosts your sales.
